FAQs
Where are you located?
You can find us just outside of Kirksville, MO on our family farm! We are about a 3-3.5 hour drive from St. Louis, Kansas City or Des Moines, IA. Once you hit Kirksville, MO, we are about 7 miles outside of town.
How much are your puppies?
The prices for our puppies range from $1,500-$2,000 limited registration - it depends on the litter. Full registration is available to approved programs only.
How does the deposit work?
Your deposit goes towards your spot in the pick order - not a particular puppy at the time the deposit is placed. We do accommodate gender preferences. Note for Aussie buyers: We do not accommodate picking your puppy solely on color unless you have immense experience with the breed. Please remember, you only have to look at the coat color but you have to live with the dog - I encourage you to make temperament a priority when selecting your puppy.
Is a non-refundable deposit required?
Yes. We require a $300 non-refundable deposit. Many hours are spent planning a litter, screening potential owners, communicating with potential owners, organizing & updating our waiting list, marketing our program, etc. When you place your deposit, you are removing the availability of a puppy in the litter. If you decide you no longer want your spot in the pick order, that means a puppy that was previously unavailable is now available. In the meantime, we may have turned away handfuls of potential homes who could have already found a puppy elsewhere.
Is my deposit transferable?
Yes! While deposits are not refundable, we totally understand that life happens and unexpected issues arise that make it difficult to bring a puppy into your home. The last thing we want is to do is place a puppy in your home when the timing is not good. Your deposit is transferable to future litters for up to one year. If we do not produce a puppy during that time in which we feel is suitable for your family, we will refund your deposit. Please note that your deposit is transferable - the price of the puppy in which you initially place your deposit towards is not. If we decide to change the price of our puppy in between litters, you will be expected to pay the current price.
How does puppy selection work?
When you place your deposit, you are placing it on your spot in the pick order for your gender preference. Once the puppies are between 6 and 7 weeks of age, we will start the selection process. We do this because at this age, we have better insight into particular puppy temperaments and can assess things such as drive, energy, biddability, level of confidence, etc. which helps us in ensuring our puppies and our puppy owners will go on to be successful with one another. We have our hands on these puppies everyday since the day they are born and invest countless hours into their development. No one knows these puppies better than we do and we ask that you place your trust in us to help you pick the best possible match for your family, lifestyle and canine related goals.
Can we come visit the puppies in person?
Absolutely! We would love the opportunity to meet you in person and introduce you to our family, dogs and puppies. We will ask you to take some basic bio-security measures to keep our little ones safe and please let us know if you have recently been to another breeder’s place, dog show/event, vet clinic, etc so we make sure we take any other necessary precautions. We also ask that if you are visiting a litter, you wait until they are at least 3 weeks old. We have found that our mamas are much less stressed at that point to share their babies with strangers or don’t mind having some alone mama time while you visit.
What all does my puppy come with?
Your puppy will come with all the basics and then a lot of extras! AKC registration papers (and ASCA, if applicable), de-worming and vaccination chart, a 10 day supply of their current puppy food for easy transition, a very comprehensive health guarantee, microchipped, immense socialization skills and lifetime breeder support.
Can you ship your puppies?
While we always encourage our puppy owners to pick their puppy up in person at our home, we understand that it is not always feasible. There are a couple options when it comes to having your puppy delivered. We can arrange to drive your puppy to your doorstep or fly in cabin with it to your closest airport. You can also fly in to STL, MCI or DSM and we can meet you at the airport for a small fee covering our fuel expense & time getting to the airport. We are about 3 hours from any of the above listed airports.
What is Puppy Culture & why is it important?
All of our litters are raised with Puppy Culture which is an intensive socialization program that starts the moment a litter comes into this wold. It was a program initially developed for breeders to give them the knowledge and tools they needed to make a positively profound impact on your future puppy’s life during the time that they are in our care. However, it is certainly something that puppy owner’s can continue after they bring their puppy home. Puppy Culture is all about applying the right amount of stress at the right time, building mental fortitude, teaching them how to communicate with us/humans in the proper way, turning them into problem solvers, letting them experience a multitude of “things” (textures, experiences, places, people, sounds, etc) so they have all the tools they need to go from wobbly, curious puppies to confident, well-rounded dogs. https://shoppuppyculture.com/pages/puppy-culture-1
Do you ever have adults available?
Very rarely. We become quite attached to our dogs and we are used to interacting with each of them every single day so I’m sure you can understand how difficult it is for us to make a decision to re-home a dog after their breeding career is done. However, we also want the very best life for each of our dogs and sometimes we do have a dog that would thrive in a one-on-one environment with a person. If we have any adult dogs available, it will be noted in their bio in the “Retired” section.
